“Underground City” (Cidade Subterrânea) is a bold doc-series production. It is a doc-reality filled with challenges and discoveries about São Paulo’s subway system, the largest in Brazil, showcasing its daily life’s complexities in a network that serves more than three million people every day. It features police incidents, investigations, medical emergencies, stories of resilience, and countless individuals who make the subway such a familiar — yet still little-known — place. In an unprecedented approach in the country, five film crews were granted simultaneous and unrestricted access to stations, facilities and trains, rotating through shifts and specific assignments for just over two months. The result is captured in 10 episodes aired on Sundays on Fantástico (TV Globo) and on Thursdays on GNT, also available on Globoplay.
